1. What is a filter’s MERV rating?

MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. It is a number from a test method designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). The number is intended to help people compare filters. Generally speaking, a higher MERV indicates better filter performance. (i.e. a MERV 10 rated filter will offer superior filtration as compared to a MERV 8 rated filter and a MERV 8 is superior to MERV 6.) For optimum performance, be sure your media has a MERV 10 rating.

If the item you need is not marked as such the above freight schedule will apply. Freight is allowed on orders over $1,000. As you add items to your order, your freight charge will be displayed. Most orders are shipped via UPS ground unless otherwise specified. Please be aware that to ship in a manner other than ground (next day air, second day air, etc.) may result in substantially higher freight charges. 3. How soon will my order ship?

All orders received by 4:00 EST will ship that same day via ground UPS. Order placed after 4:00 EST weekdays and on Sat. or Sun. will ship the following business day.

 

4. Should I buy Spacegard brand media or General Filter’s media for my air cleaner?

Both brands have been independently tested and earned a MERV 10 rating. Our
belief is that they are the similar quality. The difference in price is due to
the brand marketing of Spacegard and not materials. You make the choice. We guarantee
satisfaction on either product.

 

5. What is the difference between a filter and filter media?

The term filter refers to a complete unit, which consists of a pre-assembled frame with installed filter media. To install, you would simply remove and replace your existing filter. No assembly is required. The term filter media refers to the filter media only. To replace the filter media requires installation in your existing filter cartridge frame. This is a simple process and takes just a few minutes. Simply remove your existing filter media and rethread your new media into the existing frame. Easy to follow instructions are included with all media orders. We generally recommend the filter media due to its higher efficiency and MERV rating.

 

6. How often should my filter or filter media be changed?

As a general guideline media will typically last one year or more. If installed on a high tonnage system, in the presence of high concentration of particulate, or if the furnace fan is on continuously, it may be necessary to change the media more frequently. In any application, the life of the media is dependant upon the total volume of air being moved through it as well as the amount of particulate it is filtering. We now have available our filter replacement gauge that eliminates the guesswork in determining when to replace your filter or filter media, the FILG99.

 

7. What is your return/satisfaction guarantee policy?
